Bio: Jude Royce had been a businessman, and the former fiancé of Amanda Rothman. In '99, while Jude was supposed to have been away on business, Lex Luthor had taken Amanda to Metropolis's Club Zero, where they had run into Jude surrounded by other women. Hurt by his lies and infidelity, Amanda had tossed her engagement ring at Jude, ending their relationship immediately. Jude had blamed Lex for deliberately bringing Amanda to the club, and had attacked the billionaire, stabbing him in the shoulder. That's when bouncer Max Kasitch had gotten involved, though in the scuffle, he'd dropped his gun. Amanda had then picked it up, and had shot Jude, killing him. To protect Amanda, Lex had later told rogue cop Sam Phelan that he and Max had struggled with the gun, and that it had gone off, killing Jude. With Phelan's help (not to mention Lionel Luthor's money), the official story had become that Max alone had killed Jude. Nonetheless, Amanda had felt guilt for her part in Jude's death, and had eventually committed suicide. With vengeance in mind, Amanda's brother Roy had found a Jude lookalike to torment Lex into confessing to Jude's murder, believing it had been Lex who had killed Jude and that Amanda had been devastated at the loss of her fiancé.
