Bio: Originally a big-city girl, Martha Clark had been born and raised in Metropolis, Kansas. While attending Metropolis University, she'd met and fallen in love with Jonathan Kent, a farm boy from Smallville. When Jonathan had gone to ask her father William for her hand in marriage, the two had argued, with William believing that farm life wasn't good enough for his daughter. Things had gotten heated and Jonathan had come to blows with Martha's father, and she and William had been estranged ever since. In 1989, Jonathan and Martha had been heading home from a trip into town, when a meteor shower had struck, upending their truck. They were then approached by a three-year-old boy, whom they had later taken home and named Clark, after Martha's maiden name. In 2002, Martha had briefly gone to work for billionaire Lionel Luthor, only to quit her job upon learning he'd been looking into her son. In early 2006, Jonathan had won his bid for Kansas State Senator, but had suffered a fatal heart attack within the same night. Martha had then been offered Jonathan's senate seat, and she'd eventually accepted. However, in 2007, after Senator Ed Burke had been killed, Martha had taken Burke's seat in the U.S. Senate and moved to Washington, D.C. In 2010, Martha had returned home with her then-boyfriend Perry White, and had been revealed to be the mysterious Red Queen that had been working against the Checkmate agency. When confronted by Clark, she'd explained that she was only trying to protect him. She'd then returned to D.C., and sent Clark a supersuit she'd made for him bearing his family crest. In 2011, she'd returned home once again to speak out against the newly-passed Vigilante Registrationn Act. While giving a speech, she'd been shot by Alexander Luthor, who'd hoped to capture Clark's attention. Months later, Martha had transferred the deed to the Kent Farm to Clark and his then-fiancee Lois Lane as a wedding present. She'd later attended their wedding, where she'd been escorted down the aisle by Daily Planet intern Jeff Hage.
