Lana is caught up in the tornadoes, but Clark manages to reach her just in time and the two ride out the storms together. In the aftermath, Chloe covers her disappointment at being abandoned by Clark at the Spring Formal, and Jonathan is forced to work with shifty reporter Roger Nixon when the two are buried alive and Clark is unable to locate them. Meanwhile, Clark's spaceship and the octagonal key get lost in the tornadoes.

A hot new teacher, Desiree Atkins, comes to Smallville High, just as Clark discovers a scorching new power: heat vision. As Clark works to get his new power under control, Desiree uses kryptonite-enhanced pheromones to get Lex to marry her, and then attempts to seduce Clark into killing Lex.

In the aftermath of the tornadoes, Pete finds Clark's spaceship, forcing Clark to reveal his secret to his friend. However, the knowledge of Clark's secret might prove dangerous to Pete, due to Dr. Hamilton's obsession with the spaceship. Meanwhile, Lana's aunt Nell has a new boyfriend, much to Lana's annoyance.

Clark defies his parents and decides to buy a class ring. Unfortunately, the school uses red kryptonite in the rings, which has a strange effect on Clark, making him brazen and rebellious. Meanwhile, a mysterious new girl arrives at Smallville High that catches the attention of the newly uninhibited Clark.
