Kryptonite |
Appearances: S1-S10
Kryptonite is the term for radioactive pieces of Clark Kent's homeworld, Krypton. For those unaware of Clark's alien heritage, kryptonite is simply referred to as meteor rocks. Such rocks had accompanied Clark to Earth during the meteor shower that had struck Smallville in 1989, concealing his spaceship as it had landed in Miller's Field. Kryptonite radiation has had strange effects on the residents of Smallville, as well as the flora and fauna, mutating some of the plants and animals while giving humans special abilities, said humans being referred to as 'meteor freaks'. The most common type of kryptonite is green kryptonite, which is lethal to Kryptonians, but variations include: red, clear, black, silver, blue, gemstone, and gold. |
