While living on the grounds of the Luthor Mansion with his mother and sister, Jeff Palmer had discovered some kryptonite-infected roses and that the oils of those roses had allowed him to turn himself invisible. He'd used this invisibility to his advantage, attacking first Troy Turner, a jock who had bullied his sister Amy regarding her obsession with Lex Luthor, and then Lex's girlfriend at the time, Victoria Hardwick. Believing Amy had been the invisible assailant, Lex had had her sent away, and Jeff had then gone after Lex, furious he'd chosen Victoria over Amy. Fortunately, Clark Kent had shown up and stopped Jeff, using a bucket of paint to turn Jeff visible again. Jeff had later been taken away in an ambulance, presumbly to be institutionalized.
